What is the European standard 6060-T66 aluminum profile?



he European standard 6060 aluminum profile refers to an aluminum alloy profile that meets the specifications outlined in the European standard EN 573-3. It is commonly used in various applications, including construction, automotive, and industrial sectors.

The composition of the 6060-T66 alloy is carefully optimized to enhance its properties during the extrusion process. Compared to the 6063-T5 alloy, the 6060-T6 alloy offers improved quenching strength, which means it can withstand higher levels of stress and pressure. This makes it suitable for applications where high strength and durability are required.

Additionally, the aging process insulation time of the 6060-T6 profile is increased, ensuring that the profile meets all the necessary standards. This includes aspects such as hardness,       tensile strength, yield strength, and elongation after fracture. In all these aspects, the European standard 6060-T6 profile outperforms the ordinary 6063-T5 profile.

Significant advantages of 6060-T66 aluminum profile

1.High strength

Strength indicators mainly include tensile strength and yield strength, which measure the ability of materials to withstand loads without damage and are important factors affecting the performance of doors and windows. The strength of profiles directly affects the wind pressure resistance, load-bearing and other performance of doors and windows, which is the guarantee of maintaining a high safety factor for doors and windows.

Whether it is the standard specified value or the measured value, the data of 6060-T66 is much higher than that of 6063-T5. After testing, the tensile strength of the 6060 profile reached 222Mpa and the yield strength reached 200Mpa, while the tensile strength of the ordinary 6063-T5 profile was 172Mpa and the yield strength was 163Mpa. The 6060-T66 profile has increased tensile strength by 29% and yield strength by 22.7% compared to the regular 6063 T5 profile, respectively.


2.High hardness

Hardness is the ability of a material to resist deformation or failure. Higher hardness profiles can enhance the performance and impact resistance of doors and windows, making them less prone to deformation or serious damage under extreme external forces such as typhoons or violent impacts. The 6060-T66 profile was subjected to cold processing after extrusion, and the measured Vickers hardness of the profile was 14HW, which is 7.6% higher than the ordinary 6063-T5 profile.


3.High toughness

The elongation after fracture is an important indicator for measuring the toughness of profiles. The higher the elongation, the better the flexibility of the profile, and thus the stronger the ability of the profile to resist deformation, which can reduce the occurrence of catastrophic fracture damage. For most structural materials, the properties of strength and toughness are usually mutually exclusive. By optimizing the alloy ratio and improving the process, 6060-T66 not only improves its strength, but also has an elongation after fracture of 13%. This means that the 6060-T66 profile has excellent resistance to deformation.
